Music for Theatre
While studying for a degree in Theater and Film at the University of Kansas I wrote and performed the music in numerous plays. They ranged from playing guitar on stage live to deconstructing a piano and improvising “deconstructionist” theater. In many of the performances I played a haunting “ambient” guitar to set a tone and mood. One highlight was playing improvised guitar and found-objects for a Grotosky style version of William Inges “Picnic”. You either loved it or hated the approach to the classic play. I also did the music for Sam Shepard’s “Tooth of Crime” which I think may be best left in the dusty halls of time.
In the spring of 2024 I did the music for a one act play called "Black Huts" written by Clive Martin directed by Emily Kuipers. The music was essentially ambient guitar with sound design. Here are few excerpts of the music for that project:
